Founded in 1989 by legendary director Sergio Leone, Leone Film Group is today one of the most prominent film distribution companies in Italy. With a catalogue that includes major international titles such as The Wolf of Wall Street, The Hateful Eight, John Wick, 1917 and many others, Leone plays a key role in connecting Italian audiences with the biggest productions from Hollywood.
I had the opportunity to work on this project thanks to QMI, who entrusted me with the redesign of Leone’s visual identity first, and later their entire website. The goal was clear: to create a new image for the company that could reflect its prestige and strategic role in the itailan film industry. An identity that could proudly stand next to the names it represents.
The rebranding process began by revisiting Leone’s historic logo. The planet icon had become a recognizable symbol of the company over the years, so instead of discarding it, I chose to reinterpret it, updating its form to feel more minimal, elegant, and modern. The typography has a strong look inspired by classic American wood typefaces, a subtle nod to Leone’s deep connection with American cinema.
Once the new identity was defined, I brought it to life through a website I designed and built, creating a modern and easy-to-use experience. The design draws inspiration from the rhythm and atmosphere of film, with a layout that feels dynamic and clear.
I also directed the logo animation used in trailers and movie intros, working closely with the 3D artist and the sound designer to make sure the result felt bold, cinematic, and aligned with the new identity.
